Sheltered from easterly winds and with a balmy winter climate, Montreux is the most popular resort on the Lake of Geneva (Lac Léman). It attracts many visitors to its great music and jazz festivals as well as its many congresses and conventions.
It's a great place for excursions into the vineclad hills surrounding the town, or to such places as Bern, the Federal capital, the cheese village of Gruyères, Zermatt & the Gornergrat in the high Alps just under the Matterhorn, a trip across the Lake to the gambling casino at the French resort of Evian, or visits to the neighboring cities of Lausanne and Geneva.
All sorts of sports activities are possible here from swimming and sailing to golf, or just a quiet stroll along the lakeside promenade and gardens.
Day 1
Arrive at Geneva Airport. Meet and Greet by your guide and escort throughout and
transfer by private motor coach for brief sightseeing of Geneva. Then continue along the coastal road to Montreux. Stay at the five-star or four-star Hotel on the Lake shore.
Welcome reception and dinner at hotel.
Day 2
Buffet breakfast
Half day tour to Montreux & Chillon castle visit Panoramic tour of Montreux & Vevey &
then along the coastal road to the Castle of Chillon, renowned by Lord Byron‘s
poem about its famous prisoner. Visit the fortress and its dungeons. It was virtually
inaccessible in medieval times, being on an islet in the Lake under massive cliffs.
Afternoon at leisure
Diner at Local Restaurant Overnight in Montreux.
Day 3
Buffet breakfast
Full day tour to Zermatt : Drive along the Rhone valley to Täsch, where you will go up by cogwheel train to Zermatt at the foot of the Matterhorn (14,688 ft). Lunch at local restaurant in Zermatt.
Optional trip up to Gornergrat with a fantastic view over 50 Alpine peaks &
best viewpoint for the Matterhorn (Mount Cervin ).
Return to Montreux for diner at hotel.
Day 4
Buffet breakfast.
Half day Tour boat cruise across Lake Geneva to Evian in France ( lunch in Evian) Free time to discover this French town and return by boat to Montreux. or Half day excursion to the medieval village of Gruyères including a cheese factory visit – Lunch at Local restaurant.
Rest of the day at leisure in Montreux.
Farewell Diner :A medieval banquet with fanfare at Oron Castle where the wine
flows freely, poured by serving girls in costume. At the end of the evening you return rather reluctantly to your hotel and the 21st Century.
Day 5
After Breakfast Departure transfer by private bus to Geneva airport or any other destination in Switzerland.
